Subspecialties include:

  • Heart health check (ECG, echography, Holter monitoring, effort test)

  • Interventional cardiology (angioplasty)
  • Pacemaker implantation

Treatments provided

Our service is tailor suited to each patient's specific treatment needs. We have listed some of the more common cardiovascular procedures for illustrative purposes but we can generally offer a choice of top specialists for virtually any procedure. Please contact us if you can not see the procedure you are seeking.

Referrals

As treatments are offered on a privately funded basis, no doctor's referral is required. For practical and cost purposes, the required treament will usually have been predetermined by the patient's own local practitioner although we can also organise preliminary diagnosis consultations if required. In all cases, the patient will receive comprehensive pre-surgical consultations with the surgeon, the anaesthetist and a cardiologist (if required).

Pricing

With the health sector being highly regulated by the French government, private medical treatment in France is of excellent quality and very competitively priced.

SurgeryInFrance charges a fixed fee for research, advisory and logistical services. We will provide an accurate budget for the medical treatment which the patient shall pay directly to the clinic and/or the medical professional. We do not charge a markup or receive a commission on the cost of the medical treatment. Travel and accommodation costs are also paid directly by the patient to the relevant service providers.

Though costs may vary depending on the treatment, patient requirements and healthcare provider, the table below gives a good indication of the savings to be made by choosing SurgeryInFrance.

How the process works

Tell us what you need

Hopefully our website has given you a good idea of what SurgeryInFrance can offer. Now, we need you to get in touch with us to discuss what surgery you require, your expectations, any time or budget constraints and any particular requirements that you may have. We are also happy to discuss your prospective treatment with your GP if you wish.

A full understanding of your needs is essential to determining which surgeons are best qualified for your procedure. These discussions are without charge, confidential and totally commitment-free.

Choosing your surgeon

The first stage of our services involves identifying and contacting a shortlist of surgeons specialised in your required procedure who have an excellent track record and are recommended by peers and patients alike.

You will receive a detailed file containing valuable information on each surgeon including qualifications, professional history, success rates and peer and patient comments. Each surgeon will indicate the cost of the procedure and associated clinical costs as well as any timing constraints that need to be taken into account. We will also provide you with an estimate of the likely ancillary costs (travel, accommodation, etc).

With the assistance of our medical director and your own practitioner, you will be able to make an informed choice of your preferred surgeon. We shall endeavour to supply any additional information that you feel may help you make your decision.

Organising your trip and treatment

Once you have selected your preferred surgeon, the second stage of our services consists of organising your treatment from start to finish, assisting with the logistics and accompanying and supporting you throughout the whole process.

Based on your requirements and the surgeon's schedule, we will organise the initial consultation and any preliminary clinical tests that need to be done. The initial consultation is important to:
  • determine whether your general health permits surgery
  • confirm your full awareness of the pros and cons of surgery
  • establish your confidence and trust in the surgeon
  • agree on realistic expectations of what surgery will do for you
  • discuss a timetable for surgery and post-operative restrictions
After the initial consultation, any additional questions that you have will be addressed. It is important that you be fully confident in your decision to undergo surgery and it is up to you when, or indeed whether, to proceed. Depending on the complexity of the procedure and the availability of your chosen surgeon, the lead time between the initial consultation and the operation will range from a few days to a few weeks at the most.

The day before the scheduled date, you will have consultations with your anaesthetist and surgeon in preparation for surgery. After surgery, you will be taken to your private room for recovery. We will be there to provide moral support and to try and make your stay as comfortable as possible. Typically there will be a stay in the clinic (except day cases) followed by a stay in a nearby hotel or guest house. The durations of each depend on the type of surgery and post-operative constraints. For example:

Treatment Clinic Stay Outpatient Stay Return Home after Final Checkup after
Full Arterial Investigation day case 1 day 2 days not applicable
Pacemaker Implant days days days 30 - 60 days
Angioplasty (single stent) 1 night 2 days 3 days 30 - 60 days
Aorto-bifemoral Bypass 12 nights 2 days 14 days 30 - 60 days

During the initial post-operative healing period, you will have regular consultations with the surgeon to ensure a prompt and comfortable recovery and you will also be able to relax and enjoy all that the region has to offer.

There will be a final post-operative consultation with your surgeon several weeks later. In the meantime, we can also liaise with your local practitioner if required.
